Your weekly log, drawn against the trial curve

Log a weight once a week. Over time this builds your own curve and lays it over the published trial median for the drug you are on — so you can see the shape of what is actually happening rather than reacting to one bad morning on the scale.

How to read the comparison

The line behind your points is the mean from the published trial — the average of several thousand people. It is a reference, not a target, and it is worth being clear about what an average hides: in STEP 1 the individual results spread very widely around that line, with some participants well above it and some well below, on the same drug at the same dose.

So sitting above or below the line is not a grade. What the line is genuinely useful for is shape. The trial curves are steepest between roughly month three and month nine, and almost flat in the first month. People who quit early usually quit during the flat part, having judged the whole treatment on the one stretch that was always going to look like nothing.

Weigh yourself the same way every time

Same day of the week, same time of day, same amount of clothing, ideally first thing after using the bathroom. Day-to-day weight swings of two or three pounds are water, not fat, and weekly logging exists specifically so those swings stop being visible. If you find yourself wanting to weigh daily, that is common, but the daily number carries almost no signal at this timescale.

What to do with a flat stretch

Stalls of three to six weeks happen inside the trials too, on the drug, at full dose. The plateau page compares your specific stall against what the trial data shows. Before assuming something is wrong, check the two things that are usually behind it: protein intake and whether your dose has changed recently.

Information, not medical advice. This is a record you keep, not a clinical assessment. It cannot tell you whether your treatment is working, whether your rate of change is safe for you, or whether anything should change — those belong with the clinician managing your care. If tracking your weight is making you feel worse rather than more informed, it is reasonable to stop; a tool is not worth that.
